Character Sheet Details

  • Bardic Inspiration
    • during bonus action, choose a creature within 60 feet to gain a bardic inspiration (1d6)
    • once within 10 minutes, the creature can roll and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw
  • Dwarven Resilience
    • advantage on saving throws against poison, and have resistance against poison damage
  • Stonecunning
    • whenever you make an intelligence (history) check related to the origin to stonework, you are considered proficient in the history skill and add double your proficiency bonus to the check instead of normal proficiency bonus
  • Jack of All Trades
    • Add half your proficiency bonus (rounded down) to any ability check you make that doesn't already include your proficiency bonus
  • Song of Rest
    • You and any friendly creatures who can hear your music during a short rest regains hit points at the end of the short rest, each of the creatures regains an extra 1d6 hit points

Session Notes

June 03, 2020

  • Dirph came across Gundren Rockseeker at a pub and got to talking
  • Cora met Gundren at the lodge she is staying in
  • Faen saw a job posting on a bulletin board and that led her to Gundren
  • Gundren approached Urrgog and asked if he wanted a job
  • The party accepted the job, takes a wagon to Barthen's Provisions in Phandolin
    • going along Triboar trail
  • Four Goblins were waiting to ambush and sneak attack the party
  • The Dirph makes a woman screaming noise and gets very injured right out of the gate
  • Urrgog casts a fogcloud to help obfuscate the view the goblins have of us
  • Faen is great at dodging, not so great at hitting and ends up getting hit as well
  • The Dirph heals Faen nearly up to full health
  • Cora kills the first Goblin by the cart and the arrow goes through the goblins head between the eyes
  • Turns out we all suck at fighting, Urrgog slips while attacking and misses the goblin completely
  • Faen throws a fireball and is able to kill another goblin in a firey blaze
  • Urrgog knocks out one of the two remaining goblins
  • Faen persuades the last to lower his crossbow, surrender, and we will keep him and his friend alive
  • The Dirph grabs his dagger
  • Search the goblins: 2 scimitars, 1 dagger, crossbow, 3 copper pieces
  • Urrgog takes the crossbow and a scimitar
  • The Dirph takes the 3 copper pieces and the dagger
  • Goblins were tasked to attack travelers for meat and cash

  • We intimidate Scrug to help us raid the Goblin hideout
  • We tie up Grog to a tree and leave him to die
  • We take a short rest, The Dirph regains his hit points and plays the bagpipes
  • We go to the Goblin hideout, Cora disguises herself very well as Grog to bring in the rest of the party as "prisoners"
  • Plan to infiltrate the goblin hideout with Scrug

  • Secret find of Rockseeker brothers
  • Entrance to the wave echo cave
  • wave echo cave -> forge of spells
    • orcs attacked and seized the treasures
    • no one survived and the cave was lost
  • Klarg was very interested and Gundren had a map but it was taken
  • Kragma castle

June 17, 2020

  • Previous recap:
    • Rescued Sildar, with Gundran on the way to Neverwinter from Phandolin
    • 3 Rockseeker brothers discovered the entrance to the wave echo cave
      • 500 years ago, dwarves & gnomes made an agreement to protect the wave echo cave with extreme magic energy
      • Phandolin was built because of Wave Echo
      • Orcs seized the cave and treasures, great war where no one survived, the cave closed and the location was lost
      • has attracted many treasure hunters looking for the long lost cave
    • Gundran was with Sildar on capture, Klarg was very interested in the wave echo cave and took a map
      • mentioned something about Kragma castle during discussion
    • We defeated the goblins in the meat cave, and tried to lure some more goblins in to pick them off one by one, but we failed and a goblin escaped and ran away (probably to warn the others maybe)
    • Initiative entered
  • We decide to flee with Sildar with the plan to long rest and come back to get the map from Klarg
  • Urrgog makes the first move to go down the cliff to the rushing stream
  • He slips on the lower cliff and makes a successful dex save, lands safely but tweaks his ankle and takes 6 damage
  • Cora gracefully gets down the slopes with ease
  • Faen goes to pick up Sildar and makes her way to the cliffs
  • Dirph throws Scrug down the cliff and injures him badly
  • The Dirph makes it down to the stream
  • Faen makes it to the top of the cliffs
  • The stream floods with rushing water
  • The Dirph quickly gets out of the way
  • Scrug and Cora are both taken and are pulled into the water and dragged down the stream and out the mouth of the cave out of sight
  • Urrgog runs out of the cave and helps Cora up
  • Faen falls down the cliff and passes out with Sildar
  • The Dirph kicks Faen into the stream and moves towards the entrance of the cave
  • Urrgog moves back towards the mouth of the cave and shoots a crossbow bolt through the eye of a goblin and kills it immediately
  • Cora moves up as well and shoots another sentry guard and injures it very badly
  • The goblin attacks Cora back and knocks her out
  • Urrgog kills the goblin with one final blow of a scimitar
  • We all escape out of the cave and down the stream, Cora and Faen are battling with consciousness
  • Sildar makes some amazing saving throws and barely comes to consciousness
  • As we are moving along Cora stabilizes but remains unconscious (will wake up in 2 hours)
  • The Dirph stabilizes Faen and will wake up in 2 hours
  • We start slowly making our way back towards where we came, its been about an hour
  • We are about an hour from the main trade route
  • Another 30 minutes in, Sildar collapses and needs to camp
  • We walk a bit off the trail and set up a small camp to spend the night
  • A bit after we set up camp, Cora and Faen wake up and we plan to take 2 hour watch shifts, Urrgog, The Dirph, Cora, and then Faen
  • After the long rest we gather out things and prepare to head back to the goblin cave to face Klarg
  • We approach the cave, Cora expertly sneaks through the cave and kills a sentry guard at the mouth
  • We hide where the wolves used to be and Cora attempts to sneak up the chimney to listen but slips at the top and Faen catches her but she takes minor damage
  • The Dirph realizes that he doesn't know everyones spells and makes sure to write them down for future reference
  • We continue sneaking around and enter initiative as Urrgog prepares to cast thunderwave at the bridge with 2 goblins standing watch
  • Thunderwave cast by Urrgog kills both goblins but is not strong enough to break the bridge
  • We continue moving forward and prepare for more combat
  • As Urrgog moves around the corner 4 wolves attack
  • Cora throws a dagger into a wolf and injures it greatly
  • Klarg comes out and taunts us
  • Faen casts burning hands, 2 wolves get badly injured and Urrgog takes a lot of damage as well
  • Urrgog casts thunderwave again, kills one of the wolves and blasts Klarg and the other 2 wolves back
  • The wolves attack Urrgog and drag him to the ground
  • Cora kills a wolf with a shortbow
  • The Dirph uses cure wounds on Urrgog and gives Faen bardic inspiration
  • Klarg surrenders and Fean throws a fire bolt and causes the final wolf and sends his entrails all over the place
  • Klarg sent the map and Gundran to Kragma Castle with King Grol
  • The castle is 20 miles north east
  • Loot: piles of sacks/crates with a blue lion, search and find a chest (unlocked) and get 600 copper pieces, 110 silver pieces, 2 potions of healing, and a jade statue of a frog with golden orbs for eyes
  • We gather our spent arrows and daggers
  • We level up and we finish the session with Klarg tied up and us standing in the goblin cave

June 23, 2020

  • We killed Klarg, and gifted Sildar a lamp
  • Blue lion is a logo for Lionshield Coster, a trading company in Yatar
  • We go back to the wagon and oxen, nothing was stolen, and we make our way back to Phandolin
  • We get to Phandolin and get rooms secured in an Stone Hill Inn before heading to Barthen's Provisions to drop off the wagon.
  • Faen goes in to check if there are rooms available for the night. Toblin, the proprietor of the hotel says there are 6 rooms available. The rooms are good for 2-3 people and cost 5 silver pieces a night.
  • Faen gets 3 rooms (rooms 4, 5, and 6), and pays Toblin's wife.
  • Sildar goes to bed in his room, and we find Barthen's Provisions
  • The Dirph enters Barthen's Provisions, there are supplies for sale
  • Anders, a store clerk, tells him to bring the wagon out back and he'll get us
  • Anders and another, Thistle, begin unloading
  • Elmar will come out and deliver the payment when he finishes up
  • Elmar gives us 40 GP
  • The Dirth tells Elmar about Gundren, and he informs us about Nundro and Tharden Rockseeker (Gundren's brothers) have set up camp close by.
  • Elmar informs us about a weapon and armor shop in town run by Linene.
  • We go to the weapon and armor trading post.
  • Faen purchases a quarterstaff for 2 silver pieces. She tries to negotiate and fails as normal.
  • Cora buys a case of bolts for 1 GP.
  • Linene mentions a missing shipment.
  • We tell her that we know where her shipment is and we killed all the Goblins. She is very grateful and gives us 25 GP and says that she will help us in any way possible.
  • She tells us about some ruffians that have been terrorizing Phandolin, the Red Redbrands.
  • We head back to the inn to grab a drink at the pub
  • We talk to the barmaid and find out we can talk to Daran who runs Edermath Orchard outside of town
  • The party splits to go gather information
    • Urrgog and The Dirph:
      • Urrgog and The Dirph go meet a table of dwarves at the bar Lanar, Jojo, Steel, and The Hammer
      • They know and have had drinks with the Rockseeker brothers before
      • The town master, Harbin Wester, looks for adventurers to deal with orc raiders that have been spotted on the east end of the Triboar trail
      • The dwarves tell us to meet them at the Phandolin mining exchange, Halia Thornton runs the exchange, ask for Lanar
    • Faen and Cora approach a table with a full elf and a bunch of humans
      • Faen tells the table about our journey to Phandolin
      • The table doesn't know anything about the Rockseeker brothers, but say that Sister Garaele, she is a Elven nun who may know something at the Shrine of Luck
      • The table knows Daran, and says he lives at the orchard to the northwest of the town
      • Faen and Cora leave the table and head to Urrgog and The Dirph
  • We meet back at the table, and Trilena, the inn keepers wife, comes over to the table to grab our glasses
  • We ask Trilena if she knows anything about the Rockseeker brothers. She does not, but sends Toblin over
  • Toblin comes over and we ask him about the Rockseeker brothers
  • He doesn't know of the whereabouts of the Rockseeker brothers, but asks if we can do something with the Redbrands while we are in town.
  • He tells us that the Redbrands have been hassling every business in town and beating people up.
  • The Redbrands murdered a carpenter and took his wife and kids.
  • The party agrees to help with the Redbrands while we are in town, and with that we head to bed for the night.

July 08, 2020

  • Wake up and get some breakfast
  • Sildar has a meeting with the town master Harbin Wester to discuss the fate of Iarno Albrek
  • Sildar is a member of the Lord's Alliance, a group headed by powerful town/city leaders who help maintain the peace
    • He is in the Griffon Cavalry
    • Iarno was sent to Phandolin 2 months ago and hasn't been heard from
  • Toblin's son Gibli found a secret tunnel in the woods to the East of the town
  • Gibli's friend Cart who found the tunnel with him live on a farm on the East of the town
  • We finish breakfast and head to the Shrine of Luck in search on information of the Rockseeker brothers
  • The Dirph asks if anyone sees the Sister Garaele and the stranger points out her house by the shrine
  • We knock on her door and she asks us to come in
  • We enter and see that she has a bandage on her leg because some bandits shot and arrow in her leg
  • She said she passed by their camp 3 miles east along the Triboar trail, take a left at the large Cairn
  • The Sleeping Giant tavern is where the Redbrands hangout
  • Sister Garaele was trying to speak to a Banshee, Agatha, at Coneyberry who might know the location of a power spell book
  • We may need to appeal to the banshee's vanity when talking to her
  • She gives us a silver comb that may help appeal to her
  • The Redbrands leader is a powerful wizard
  • We leave her house and head to Edermath Orchard
  • We find a man up in a tree working and ask if he is Daran
  • Daran informs us that he thinks the Redbrands maybe be hiding out near Tresdenar manor
  • They are greedy and cowardly as bandits are, but be careful with the wizard who is rumored to lead them
  • Qelline Alderleaf lives on the east side of town and might know more about the manor and a potential hidden cave
  • Come back if we take care of Redbrands come back to Daran and he might have some more information and goods for us
  • We leave the Orchard and head to Qelline Alderleaf's farm in the south east part of town
  • We see some people in the field and approach them
  • We meet Carp, her son, and discuss the location of the secret cave
  • Qelline's druid friend Reidoth might know of any castles in the area
  • Reidoth was looking for the ruins of Thundertree, west of the Neverwinter Wood
  • She makes us sandwiches for lunch and The Dirph plays the bagpipes as she prepares lunch
  • After lunch we head to the town hall near the center of town
    • There is a notice outside about the Orc menace outside of town that we hear about before
    • There is a reward and inquire inside
  • We enter the meeting with the town master
  • Iarno never arrived
  • The town master dismisses the Redbrands
  • Harbin is very hung up about the orcs down the Triboar trail to the east
  • Sildar brings up Kragma castle and Gundren and demands we need to address this issue immediately
  • We meet privately and decide to ambush the Redbrands in secret behind Harbin's back that night
  • We are going to leave a message "from Harbin" for the Redbrands at the Sleeping Giant to lure out the Redbrands
  • The meeting ends and we head towards the woods to find a place to lure the Redbrands to
  • We catch Sildar up and make sure he is aligned with us and not Harbin and is prepared to fight
  • We enter the forest looking for a place
  • We follow Carp's directions and find the burn marked tree
  • We are at the ash tree and Urrgog hears voices
  • We hide and Faen and The Dirph do not hide well
  • 3 people and a bug bear pass by and notice us
  • We use a surprise round to attack them
  • We defeat 2 people and the bug bear and restrain the last guy
  • The Black Spider hired them to frighten the villagers and scare off adventurers
  • The Dirph stabs the last guy
  • We retrieve the cloaks and daggers

July 15, 2020

  • We enter the Redbrands manor
  • We sneak into a room of sleeping goblin, humans, and bug bears
  • We defeat them, but Cora and The Dirph are knocked down
  • We use the 2 potions of healing to bring everyone back to their feet

July 21, 2020

  • We loot the bodies
  • Searched the barrels and find salted pork and apples
  • The Dirph and Faen listen to each of the doors in the room and hear nothing
  • Faen opens one of the doors under the stairs and it opens to a hallway
  • The Dirph opens the door he is at and finds a living quarters for workers
  • Look through the barrels and find a barrel of liquid, bags of salt and flour, and salted beef
  • Down the hallway by Faen there are large double doors with a mournful angel
  • The floor collapses and The Dirph falls into a 20ft pit and takes some damage
  • Faen and The Dirph both roll natural 20s on an athletics check to climb out of the pit
  • Urrgog notices that the pit is a trap and there are some edges along the way with hand holds to get across
  • Cora tries to go around the trap
  • We all get across the trap without any issues
  • There is an inscription on the door in an unknown language
  • Faen tries to read the text but can't read it. It is written in English script, but is unreadable
  • Urrgog hears nothing behind the door
  • Urrgog opens the door and it reveals a crypt
  • We all make sure we are wearing cloaks
  • Faen investigates the crypts
  • She finds a ring and Urrgog puts it on
  • We find 2 more rings and The Dirph and Sildar put them on
  • The Dirph listens to the door on the east wall and hears a crying sound
  • As Cora and Sildar approach the door where The Dirph is standing, the skeletons turn their heads and move towards Sildar and Cora
  • Faen tosses Cora her cloak and the skeletons turn towards Faen and Cora kills one
  • One skeleton is able to take a hit on Faen
  • The Dirph takes out the last two skeletons
  • We open the door with the crying behind and we find two women and a boy in the room, prisoners
  • We save the prisoners and lead them to safely
  • We go back to investigate the final door
  • We find a secret door that leads to a supply closet
  • Behind the final door we find an armory filled with different weapons
  • We take a short rest to gain some HP, then move towards the cavern to find the monster
  • We find an alchemy workshop room
  • The Dirph finds a Dwarven spell book and puts in his chest
  • He also finds some rare reagents and puts them in the loot
  • We go through a door and find a bedroom
  • The Dirph goes through the writing on the desk and find a note with a black spider on the bottom
  • The note is to Yarno that he is working with the Black Spider
  • The Dirph locks the party in the room and questions Sildar trying to figure out if Sildar could be working with the Black Spider as well
  • Sildar says he has no part in this horrible plan and we decide to carry on
  • We find the beast and trade it bodies and jewels for information
  • The bugbears knew the location of Kragma castle
  • The Netheril left an artifact close by where powerful magic lies dormant
    • Head across the rolling hills north east where the well that will not run dry... (more information missed)
  • We leave the manor using the back entrance by the cave
  • We go back to the inn, have a party celebrating our victor ridding the town of the Redbrands and take a long rest
